An Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I intend to keep this introduction brief, but this is the basic information you need to know...
My name is Rachel and I am an eighteen year old girl living in London. I've chosen to start this blog as a way of channelling my interests and opinions, as well as a way to develop my writing skills. I have enjoyed writing since I was a young child, and currently would like to pursue a career in journalism or some sort of communications based industry, so this is an exciting opportunity for me to do something I love. I intend to write about the various things that I am passionate about, from fashion and beauty to literature and topical issues, subjects which  I hope will interest you too.
Obviously you'll get to know more about me as I continue to post, but for now, that's the basics. I hope you enjoy reading my blog in the future!

Nude lips are probably my most worn makeup look - I love the versatility of the look, it's just so natural and effortless. I was keen to write a post in which I shared my favourite nude lipsticks and so I've narrowed it down to my top three, which range from browns to more pinky nudes and are conveniently all high street buys... Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in 43 Rimmel's lipstick range in collaboration with Kate Moss is one of my favourites because all of the products are so creamy and easy to apply, with the added bonus of smelling great. Red lip, classic

I’ve always admired people who can pull off a red lip. I’m not sure if my aversion to bright colours is down to a dislike of drawing too much attention to myself or a general preference for more natural makeup, but I decided to challenge myself this festive season and try out a red shade in the form of one of Rimmel’s ‘The Only 1’ matte lipsticks, in a shade called ‘Take the Stage’. On first inspection there were definitely a couple of things that I didn’t love about the product. Aesthetically, I don’t particularly like its packaging, which is clunky and plastic. It certainly doesn’t look as nice as Rimmel’s other lipstick range by Kate Moss which is so much slicker and luxurious-looking in comparison. Additionally, the scent is a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it one, and so if like me you’re not too keen on overly fruity and fragrant beauty products then you may find this a bit overpowering. The first Audrey Hepburn film I saw as a child was My Fair Lady , but it wasn't until my early teens that my obsession with her truly began. She was an immensely talented actress with impeccable style, but the thing I admire most about her is the fact that she won a legion of fans at a time when Hollywood was obsessed with glamorous peroxide blondes like Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Quirky, minimalistic, and with a boyish figure, she quickly became a muse to the designer Hubert de Givenchy as he was just starting his fashion house. With thick brows, flawless skin and cat eye liner, her look was timeless, so it's no surprise that she is regarded as a style icon to so many.
